Bryce & Zion Hiking Diva's Girls Trip

A wonderful albeit quick trip with my "hiking diva" girlfriends in Bryce & Zion in Utah. They stayed all week while I just joined them for a day, but what a marvelous day it was!Our most fun hike was through the Peekaboo and Spooky "slot" canyons located in the Grand Staircase-Escalante area of Bryce Canyon, Utah.

These canyons are much like the one featured in "127 Hours" in which Aron Ralston was pinned by a boulder. The slot canyons were sculpted out of sandstone by wind, water, temperature and time.

Periodically, there are lethal flash floods which hurl tons of water, rocks, trees and other debris through these narrow passages that we climbed through. They are the true test of whether one is claustrophobic or not.

Yes, we really made our way through these areas, some less than a foot wide. Sometimes you have to shimmy up the sides of the canyon, or bend down or even crawl along the ground, to get around the sides of the that are too narrow for passage
